Casper City Council adopts emergency plan for Natrona County

CASPER, Wyoming – Natrona County, with assistance from the City of Casper, has developed a local emergency plan and the council placed it on the agenda at its regular meeting Tuesday.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has activated the National Incident Management System and the Incident Command System, according to a May 15 memo from Casper police and fire officials.

The Department of Homeland Security has mandated the use of these systems to respond to emergencies and disasters and the implementation of emergency management plans at all levels of government.

Natrona County adopted the plan on April 16.

The Natrona County Emergency Operations Plan provides a basic plan to support local governments and agencies, roles and responsibilities, and a template emergency declaration. It also addresses the following issues:

  • Incidents with many victims.
  • Mass accidents resulting in death.
  • Evacuations.
  • Pets and animals in disasters.
  • Resource management.
  • Public works and utilities.
  • recovery operations.
  • Accommodation, victim assistance and reunification.
  • forest fire incident.
  • Tornado incident.
  • earthquake incident.
  • Flood incident.
  • Cyber ​​incident.
  • Incident involving hazardous substances.
  • Terrorist incident.
