Shooting in South Side Park leaves one dead and one injured

CHICAGO – One man is dead and another injured after a gunman opened fire in a South Side park.

Chicago police said officers were called to the 2000 block of East 67th Street shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday after gunshots were reported in Jackson Park.


When officers arrived on scene, they found two victims: a 25-year-old man who had been shot in the shoulder, face and thigh, and a 39-year-old man who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds throughout his body.

Both men were taken to hospital, where the 39-year-old later succumbed to his injuries. The other victim is said to be fine.

According to police, the two men were in the park when they were approached by an unknown person who pulled out a gun and opened fire.

Officials said no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting and that an investigation is currently ongoing.
