OBERLIN, Kansas (KSNW) — The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has found inconsistencies in its investigation into Saturday’s kidnapping in Oberlin. The KBI is now also reporting a sexual assault.

On Saturday, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office requested KBI assistance in investigating a report of a man being kidnapped and sexually assaulted.

After further investigation, KBI agents discovered that the reporter’s statements contained several inconsistencies.

“The public can be assured that this incident poses no danger,” the KBI said.

The investigation is ongoing.
