One dead in police-involved shooting at Flowood apartment complex

FLOWOOD, Mississippi (WJTV) – One person was killed in a police-involved shooting at an apartment complex in Flowood.

The shooting occurred on Tuesday, June 4, at the Shadow Lake Apartments on Park Circle Drive.

Flowood police said officers received a description of a suspicious man hiding behind a building. Officials with the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS) said the suspect was attempting to break into homes. When officers encountered the man, he ran away, they said.

According to police, after officers pursued the suspect, he pointed a gun at officers and police shot him. The man succumbed to his injuries.

According to police, no officers were injured in the incident. The shooting is being investigated by agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI). They will share their findings with the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office.
