Man arrested after shooting that killed 21-year-old Atlanta woman with toddler in back seat – WSB-TV Channel 2

ATLANTA – A man faces murder charges after a young woman was shot and killed in a car while her toddler sat in the back seat.

On Friday, Atlanta police arrested 23-year-old Jamal Baker in connection with the May 18 shooting that resulted in the death of 21-year-old Ne’Jah Cox.

Bryan Mims from Channel 2 learned that Cox was a passenger in the car during the shooting and her young child, a toddler, was in the back seat.

Police said three men on foot approached Cox as the car passed an apartment complex on Center Street and opened fire.

LATEST STORIES:

A lieutenant from the homicide squad said Channel 2 Action News that the shooting specifically targeted Cox and that part of the Center Street incident was captured on surveillance video from a nearby store.

Baker was booked into the Fulton County Jail and faces charges of murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony and second-degree child cruelty.
