Motorcyclist loses control of his motorcycle and dies on I-10

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 43-year-old man was killed late Friday night, May 31, when he lost control while speeding through traffic on Interstate 10 on his motorcycle, El Paso police said.

According to police, 43-year-old Ramon Espinoza Torres of Anthony, Texas, was killed in a traffic accident on I-10 West near Copia shortly before midnight Friday.

Police said that during their investigation they learned that Torres was traveling at high speeds and was repeatedly swerving in traffic.

As traffic eased, Torres attempted to avoid a rear-end collision with a semi-trailer truck and lost control of his motorcycle, police said.

Torres and the motorcycle skidded across the highway and crashed into a railing, police said.

Another vehicle was unable to avoid the motorcycle when it crossed into its own lane. The driver and her passenger were uninjured, according to police.

Torres died at the scene, police said.

According to police, Torres’ speeding on his motorcycle was the deciding factor in the accident.

This is the 29th road fatality this year, compared to 30 in the same period last year.
