2 dead in apparent murder/suicide on I-70 in Preble County

However, approximately four hours later, at around 9:17 p.m., officers were again dispatched to the area because a vehicle appeared to be in a ditch on the ramp to US 35, which is currently closed for construction. Officers responded with a Wayne County, Indiana, sheriff’s deputy and highway patrol.

Inside lay two dead people with obvious gunshot wounds.

The sheriff’s office said it is believed the stalled vehicle was the one described in the earlier wrong-way report.

Following the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office’s examination of the crime scene and autopsy of the bodies on Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office said the incident is being tentatively investigated as a murder/suicide.

The two people in the car were identified as the driver, Alysha M. Rountree, 31, of Pryor, Oklahoma, and an acquaintance, Robert L. Wilson III, 31, of Twinsburg, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office did not provide any information about which of the two is suspected to be the shooter.

The investigation by the Preble County Sheriff’s Office, the Preble County Coroner and the Pryor Creek, Oklahoma Police Department is ongoing.
