San Jose police arrest 46 people on sexual assault warrants – NBC Bay Area

San Jose police arrested 46 people suspected of sexual harassment in a three-month raid earlier this year, the police department said in a press release on Tuesday.

The assaults took place between 2019 and 2024, and the charges ranged from simple sexual assault to sexual assault of a minor and rape, police said.

Police added that there may be more victims.

The raid, led by the SJPD’s Sexual Assaults Investigation Unit, took place between Feb. 1 and April 30. Patrol officers and the SJPD’s Street Crimes Unit assisted SAIU investigators in making the arrests, police said.

Most of the suspects are San Jose residents, but others have residences in San Francisco, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, San Leandro, Santa Rosa and Hollister. Three of the arrests were made out of state in Wyoming, Louisiana and New Mexico, police said.

“Our SAIU detectives are doing an excellent job of bringing these perpetrators to justice and helping our survivors find peace and healing,” said Acting Police Chief Paul Joseph.

Anyone with information about the cases should contact the San Jose Police Department’s Sexual Assaults Investigation Unit at 408-277-4102.
