Ogdensburg man found guilty of sexually abusing a child and a physically helpless adult

CANTON – An Ogdensburg man has been convicted of sexually abusing a child and a physically helpless adult.
The St. Lawrence County District Attorney announced that 34-year-old Nathan Shaver was found guilty by a St. Lawrence County jury on three counts of first-degree sexual abuse.
According to Pasqua, in July 2018, Shaver had sexual contact with an adult woman who was physically helpless at the time.
Shaver then had sexual contact with a nine-year-old child and a physically helpless adult in the city of Massena, Pasqua said in a press release.

“Perpetrators of sexual assault rely on fear and shame to silence their victims. I admire the courage of the victims in this case to come forward. My law firm will continue to fight for justice for victims of sexual assault and I hope this verdict inspires other victims to come forward,” Pasqua said.

Pasqua praised Assistant District Attorney Joshua Haberkornhalm and Deputy District Attorney Matthew Peabody for their hard work and excellent presentation of evidence to the jury.

Pasqua also thanked the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation for its valuable law enforcement assistance.

Sentencing is scheduled for August 5, 2024. He faces a maximum sentence of 21 years in the New York State Department of Corrections.
