Kansas City, Missouri police say they have launched a death investigation after a woman reported missing from KCMO was found dead in another city in the metropolitan area.

Police said 23-year-old Alyssa McMurry was last seen around 8 a.m. on May 13 in the 4100 block of Tracy Avenue in Kansas City.

Family members reported McMurry missing, saying they were concerned for her safety and well-being. She was last seen in a silver 2012 Buick sedan.

According to police, McMurry’s body was found on May 17 in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Her identity was recently confirmed by forensic experts.

The Jackson County, Missouri Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation into McMurry’s death.
