Her vehicle then collided with a parked car on Talman Avenue, police said.

A 21-year-old man suffered a graze wound to his back and was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said. Police said the man was a recruit with the department.

A 24-year-old man in the car was uninjured.

As the victims attempted to escape unharmed, their vehicle crashed into several parked cars, including a Jeep driven by Donicino Perez.

“I hear ‘boom’ and I wake up. Then I hear people running around outside and talking. So I go outside to see what’s going on and look at my car,” Perez said.

A man who wished to remain anonymous noted that his car was also damaged.

“He didn’t want to show his face, but there’s a shot of his back,” he said. “He’s a white guy with glasses and a beard. I heard a lot of car horns last night, but I didn’t think my car was broken.”

The man driving the car suffered a graze in the rear and was taken to hospital. His passenger was uninjured. It is unclear whether the attack was random or targeted.

No one is in custody and detectives from Area 3 are investigating.
