3 people charged after investigation into traffic stop

BATH, NY (WETM) – Three people are facing drug charges after meth and other substances were discovered during a traffic stop in Bath.

According to the Village of Bath Police Department, the traffic stop occurred on March 31, 2024, when police stopped a vehicle for a minor traffic violation on West Morris Street in Bath. At that time, a large amount of meth, packaging material, and a digital scale were found in the vehicle. The three were then released pending investigation.

Arrest warrants were later issued against the three people involved. They were located and taken into custody on May 31.

As a result, David R. Burgess, the driver of the vehicle, and Mary E. Cone, the passenger, were charged with fifth-degree unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony. The rear seat passenger was charged with a misdemeanor.

All three were subsequently taken to the Steuben County Jail and released in CAP court.
