Lincoln woman who was mistakenly declared dead has died | KLIN

A 74-year-old woman from Lincoln died a few hours after she died in a nursing home in Waverly. She was then found alive at a funeral home in Lincoln. “I am sad to report that Constance Glantz passed away yesterday at around 4 p.m. at a local hospital,” said Ben Houchin, deputy sheriff of Lancaster County.

Houchin says Glantz was pronounced dead at around 9:45 a.m. Monday morning at Mulberry Nursing Home, where she was receiving hospice care. Two hours later, LFR was then called to Butherius, Maser and Love Funeral Home. While her body was being prepared for burial, Houchin said, a staff member noticed she was still breathing and called 911.

“I can’t imagine what her family has been through and we are truly very sorry that they have to go through this,” Houchin said. Lancaster County Prosecutor Pat Condon ordered an autopsy, which was performed Tuesday morning. Houchin said it could take up to 12 weeks for the autopsy results to be available.

Houchin says the nursing home and funeral home have cooperated fully with their investigation. “I would also like to state that the funeral home did absolutely nothing wrong in our investigation. They determined that she was still alive.”
