Weld County coroner identifies man found dead after storm in Greeley

The man was found dead in front of a house, but it is unclear whether his death was related to a storm that swept through the area.

GREELEY, Colorado – A 48-year-old man was found dead in the backyard of a Greeley home last week, around the time a storm passed through that brought heavy hail and flooding.

The Weld County Coroner’s Office said it was notified of the man’s death in the 800 block of 24th Street last Wednesday. Several neighborhoods in east Greeley were hit by severe flooding after the storm passed through late May 28, inundating streets and prompting road closures and nearly a dozen rescues.

On Tuesday, the coroner’s office identified the victim as Joseph Rosendo Henry Carrisales. They said he was found dead on a friend’s property. It remains unclear if his death was in any way related to the storm that hit the Greeley area the night before.

The incident is still under investigation and laboratory results are awaited to determine the cause and manner of death, the coroner’s office said.
