Suspect arrested in connection with murder in St. Johnsbury in New Orleans, police say

A man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in Vermont has been arrested in Louisiana, according to police. On Tuesday, Vermont State Police announced that 32-year-old Danny Daniels of Philadelphia had been arrested the previous day in New Orleans. Daniels had a warrant out for his arrest in Vermont for aiding and abetting premeditated murder and other charges related to the December 2022 death of Jimenez Lugo. Louisiana State Police officers arrested Daniels and another man on several other charges after a foot chase. In addition to the murder charge, Daniels faces additional charges in Vermont, including aiding and abetting assault and robbery with a weapon, aiding and abetting burglary and federal drug charges. The terms of the warrant call for Daniels to be held without bail upon his extradition to Vermont. Vermont State Police have not yet set an initial court date, and details on when he will face state charges related to the murder are pending.
