NLC and TUC suspend strike

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have announced the suspension of their industrial action for one week.

The announcement was made by TUC President Festus Osifo following a joint extraordinary meeting of the unions’ national executive council held in Abuja on Tuesday.

“At a joint TUC/NLC NEC meeting, an easing of industrial action measures was agreed for one week with immediate effect,” he said.

The unions are expected to provide further details in a later communiqué.

The unions began the strike to protest against the government’s refusal to her Demand for a minimum wage of N494,000.
