Man arrested for sexual assault and spitting on police officers

A man was sentenced to a total of 32 weeks in prison for sexual assault, assault on a police officer and threatening behavior.

Michael McQueen, 37, of Hall Quay, Great Yarmouth, was arrested on 31 May after he was found shouting and swearing on Haven Bridge at 02:52 BST.

He was taken to Great Yarmouth police station for questioning, where he spat at an officer.

Later that day, at Norwich Magistrates’ Court, he admitted assault on a public servant and a public order offence and was sentenced to 28 weeks in prison.

He also pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a woman at HMP Norwich on 21 December 2023. He was given an additional four weeks’ imprisonment.

On May 20, McQueen was also involved in an altercation with a police officer that was filmed and shared on social media.
