Transsexual prisoner transferred to men’s prison after allegedly raping his cellmate

A transgender inmate with a beard was transferred to a men’s prison after allegedly raping a cellmate. Daily MailTremaine Deon Carroll, 51, was released from the Central California Women’s Facility after he was charged with two counts of rape and one count of “discouraging a witness from testifying.”

One of the female inmates Carroll allegedly raped was identified as Jane Doe. She said she was in the shower when Carroll raped and assaulted her. The 51-year-old has since been transferred to the all-male Valley State Prison in Delano.

In an interview with the news agency, Jane Doe said Carroll’s January 2024 assault in the shower was “completely penetrative,” adding that he was her new cellmate at the time. After the alleged sexual assault, Jane Doe suffered trauma and was unable to shower for days.

According to sources, Jane Doe was crammed into her cell with the biological male inmate and two female inmates after she requested a transfer from her original cell. Carroll, who has not undergone gender reassignment surgery, has spent several stints in prison and is currently serving a 25-year sentence for three serious felonies.

Jane Doe also said she rejected the 51-year-old’s advances when they became cellmates, but Carroll eventually attacked her and raped her in the shower. Daily Mail reported. The female victim said she was alone at the time.

Sources also told the news outlet that Jane Doe was hospitalized after the incident, adding that she was subjected to a pelvic exam while her arms and legs were shackled. Jane Doe was separated from the other inmates after her release and was strip searched. She was also reportedly not considered a victim, as Carroll had claimed that she had in fact raped him.

In response to the incident, women’s rights activists said the allegations should prompt the California prison system to take action against the transfer of transgender inmates. Since 2021, over 44 biological male inmates have been transferred to all-female prisons.
