2 dead in shooting in East Columbus Park

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Two people were shot and killed in an east Columbus park Monday night.

According to Sergeant Joe Albert of the Columbus Division of Police, the shooting occurred shortly before 10 p.m. at Krumm Park, 854 Alton Ave.

At 10:07 p.m., first responders at the scene of the accident declared the two victims, both men, dead, police said.

Earlier in the evening, a vigil was held at the park for 18-year-old Da’Mya Cummerlander. The woman was shot early Sunday morning in the 2600 block of Woodsedge Road. Police say it’s unclear if Monday night’s shooting is connected to the vigil.

Albert said when officers arrived, there were about 50 people at the vigil in the park.

There was no information available about a suspect.
