Some thunderstorms tonight and Tuesday night

Rain will continue in parts of the Ozarks this afternoon. This rain wave should ease tonight. The satellite shows a disturbance forming in western Kansas. This could lead to some overnight thunderstorms. Lows will settle in the 18 to 20 degrees tonight.

Maximum temperatures on Tuesday are expected to be below 27 degrees.

Tuesday is expected to be a predominantly dry day. The forecast calls for partly to mostly cloudy skies. A warm, moist air mass will prevail, so humidity will remain high. A southerly wind should help to raise maximum temperatures to 27 to 30 degrees Celsius.

A cold front will move across the Plains Tuesday night. Thunderstorms are forecast along the front for the Ozarks Wednesday morning. There is a chance of some strong to severe storms, with strong winds being the main threat. Winds will shift from the northwest during Wednesday. The cold air will lag the front a bit, so a very warm day is forecast. Highs should reach the mid-80s.

The Ozarks will then have dry weather for several days. It currently looks like it will be dry for both Thursday and Friday. Low temperatures in the morning will be between 15 and 16 degrees. Highs are expected to be between 27 and 29 degrees.

The chance for thunderstorms then increases over the weekend. A stationary boundary is projected along the Missouri-Arkansas state line, so multiple rounds of storms are possible. If these storms form, some strong to severe storms are possible. Temperatures should change little. Morning lows will drop to the mid 60s, with highs in the lower 80s. Several inches of rain are possible over the next week. Some places have had recent flooding, so we’ll be watching for that.
