Brother Marquis, 2 Live Crew member, died at age 58

Hip-hop artist Brother Marquis has diedHe was 58.

The artist, whose real name was Mark Ross, was known as a member of the legendary Miami rap group 2 Live Crew.

On Monday, 2 Live Crew’s official Instagram account shared the news of his death in a memorial post. DJ Debo, 2 Live Crew’s longtime manager, also confirmed the news to People.

“Mark Ross, also known as Brother Marquis of the 2 Live crew, has passed away,” the group wrote under a photo of Ross.

Sources with knowledge of the situation spoke to TMZ, and said that no foul play was suspected and his death appeared to be a natural death.

Ross was born in Rochester, New York in April 1966 and moved to Los Angeles as a child. He later moved to Florida, where he joined the 2 Live Crew in 1986.

Although he was not a founding member of the group, he worked with Luke Skywalker, Dr. Mr. Mixx and Fresh Kid Ice and made his first appearance on their album The 2 Live Crew is what we arepublished in 1986.

He stayed with the group until it disbanded in the mid-1990s, but they reunited in the 2000s and continued performing until Fresh Kid Ice’s death in 2007.

The news was met with numerous tributes, tributes and condolences from fans and fellow artists.
