FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A woman was shot following unrest in Fresno on Monday, according to Fresno police.

Police said they received a call shortly before 7 p.m. about an altercation between a man and a woman at Dickey Playground in Fresno.


According to police, the woman left the park in her vehicle and drove to the area of ​​Stanislaus and M streets. The man then followed her in another vehicle and fired several shots at her.

One of the shots hit her in the lower body. Police say she is being treated at a local hospital and her injuries are not life-threatening.

According to police, the suspect was arrested. He was found at Dickey Playground.

According to police, the man and the woman had a previous romantic relationship and this could be a case of domestic violence.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and it is not known whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the shooting.
