Atlanta City Council approves nearly $3 billion budget for 2025

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The Atlanta City Council approved its 2025 budget Monday.

The City Council approved the $2.75 billion budget, which allocates more than $853 million to the city’s general fund, $1.5 billion to business funds and more than $352 million to other financing.

The budget included an 11 percent increase for the Atlanta Department of Watershed Management. The budget also provides $30 million for infrastructure improvements.

“This budget demonstrates our commitment to investing meaningfully in our community and our employees as we continue our collective mission to make Atlanta a city of opportunity for all,” said Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens . “We know Atlanta has great influence globally, from hosting the world’s busiest and most efficient airport to our innovation in housing solutions, and this budget shows that we work to ensure that all residents have access to our city’s essential resources.

Other budgeted expenses include $24.3 million in employee compensation and benefits, $29.8 million in public safety equipment, technology upgrades and security measures, and $17 million in affordable housing initiatives. , among other expenses.
