Hours before Levi’s death, his mother, Katharina Kruegergave a heartbreaking update on the condition of her son with husband Spencer.

“After several sleepless nights, a lot of research, numerous conversations with the best neurologists in the world and millions of prayers, we are now facing our greatest fear. Levi has shown us just enough to buy us time for all of this,” Kallie wrote under a video of herself and Levi. on Facebook on Sunday. “We prayed that he would defy all odds and prove to us that he wanted to stay here, but now we see that he wanted to give us time to come to terms with letting him go. I told you that my baby is attentive and considerate, and I truly believe that he did that for us.”

Kallie further wrote that Levi “brought humanity to the nation” after he in critical condition for driving his toy tractor into a Utah river earlier this month. “Soon I will climb into bed with my baby and hold him as he falls asleep for the last time on this earth,” she continued. “It brings me comfort to know that he will go back to being the perfect little boy he was and have the ability to do all the things he loves! I know there are angels up there waiting to hold him until I can again!”

Kallie ended her emotional message by saying that she and Levi’s family will “miss him every second of every day down here, but believe without a doubt that this is the best thing we can do for him.” She added, “We love you, baby beans, and I can’t wait for the day you can ‘work the soil’ with me again!”
