One dead in road rage incident in Clearfield

CLEAR FIELD According to Clearfield police, one person was killed in a road rage incident Monday evening.

Assistant Chief Devin Rogers of the Clearfield Police Department told KSL that two vehicles were involved in an accident. One of the vehicles left the scene while the other followed it for several blocks.

Rogers said a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road. The driver of the fleeing vehicle got out and walked toward the second vehicle.

“This encounter ended in a shootout that resulted in the death of the driver of the fleeing vehicle,” Clearfield police said in a news release.

The deceased victim is a man in his sixties.

The incident occurred at 6:26 p.m. in the area of ​​1200 W. 300 North.

Rogers said no other injuries were reported. The suspect is in custody and cooperating with the investigation.

According to police, the original crash occurred near Industrial Parkway and State Route 193. The two vehicles then drove into a residential area near 75 N. 1000 West before the shooting occurred.

According to police, during the chase the driver of the second vehicle was in contact with the operations center and informed them of his location.
