2 people arrested after theft from vacant Kings County home | YourCentralValley.com

KINGS COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Two men were arrested after allegedly breaking into a vacant home in Kings County and committing a theft, the Kings County Sheriff’s Office said.

Officers said they were called to the area between 23rd Avenue and Grangeville Avenue because a vehicle had driven onto the property of a vacant residential building.

Sheriff’s officials say when deputies responded, the caller informed dispatch that the vehicle, believed to be an older model Cadillac sedan, was now traveling north on 23rd Avenue and then turning east onto Fairfax Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers located the Cadillac near 22nd and Fremont Avenues. They conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the three occupants of the vehicle. The driver was identified as Pablo Chavez and the passenger as Irvin Rodriguez. A woman in the back seat was later determined not to be involved in the accident and was released.

While speaking with the trio, officers said they noticed several items that appeared to be from a storage unit, as they had a lot of dust and cobwebs on them. Pablo and Irvin were also covered in dust and cobwebs.

Officers continued speaking with the group while another officer went to the house in question. The officer discovered a shed at the back of the property that officers said had been broken into by force. Items were missing from the dusty floors and counters – items that matched those found in the Cadillac.

Sheriff’s officials said they also found a metal crowbar and a box of live shotgun shells inside the vehicle. The crowbar had paint stains and indentations that matched those on the shed’s broken door.

The sheriff’s office said Pablo and Irvin were booked into the Kings County Jail on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy, possession of burglary tools, possession of stolen property and illegal possession of ammunition, as both are convicted felons.

The property was returned to its owner.
