Tennessee woman arrested after drug haul found in U-Haul truck

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A woman is facing multiple drug charges after a traffic stop in Putnam County on Monday revealed large quantities of drugs, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to PCSO, officers stopped a U-Haul truck near exit 290 in the county. The driver was Melinda Sharma, who has warrants for her arrest in another county.

Officers detected an odor of marijuana coming from the truck and during the search seized 18 grams of suspected methamphetamine, approximately 20 grams of suspected marijuana, approximately seven grams of a brown powder substance, approximately 12 doses of suspected LSD, drug paraphernalia and cash.

Sharma is charged with manufacturing, selling and delivering meth, simple possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bail is set at $17,000 and she is scheduled to appear in court on July 22.
