HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – A man is being investigated for drug charges after allegedly attempting to shoplift at Dollar General.

According to an affidavit, EPD officers were dispatched to the Dollar General store on S. Weinbach Avenue for a robbery call. The caller said a woman and two men had been inside the store for over an hour and were possibly under the influence of drugs.

The caller said a person, John Bolin, 49, attempted to leave the store with an air freshener sticking out of his pocket.

Bolin claimed he purchased them at another store, but they were shown as Dollar General items.

EPD claims Bolin did not take his hands out of his pockets. He was taken into custody and officers allegedly found two syringes and a clear pipe with burn residue inside, as well as a black and red ziplock bag with a clear baggie containing a white crystalline substance inside. The substance later tested positive for meth.

According to the EPD, the weight was 10.4 grams and Bolin was carrying small amounts valued at $425.
