Tehachapi DJ sentenced to 100 years in prison for sexually abusing young girls | News

A well-known Tehachapi DJ was sentenced to 100 years to life in prison by Kern County Superior Court on Monday for sexually abusing four girls ages 5 to 11.

Roy Michael Kirk was found guilty of four counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14. Kirk was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for each of the four counts.

According to the Kern County District Attorney’s Office, Kirk abused the four girls from 2004 to 2012, with three of the victims being abused over an extended period of time.

In 2009, the first victim reported Kirk to Tehachapi police. Kirk was arrested in 2017 after the second victim reported Kirk to a school aide and a third victim was found during the investigation, prosecutors said. In 2021, a fourth victim reported the abuse.

In a statement sent to The Californian after the verdict, District Attorney Samantha Allen said the physical and emotional harm Kirk inflicted on the victims was unprecedented and the victims had been robbed of their innocence.

“All four women in this case are condemned to a lifetime of trauma and triggers that they will learn to deal with and hopefully one day overcome. It is only appropriate that Mr. Kirk also be sentenced to life,” Allen said.

Kirk’s defense attorney Eric Chase declined to comment after the verdict was announced.
