CWU organizes training on dealing with mass accidents

ELLENSBURG — A large-scale mass casualty incident drill will be held on the campus of Central Washington University on June 12, 2024, from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The CWU Office of Emergency Management would like to inform the CWU and Kittitas County communities that emergency vehicles will be in operation in the area of 18th Avenue and Alder Street from 7:30 a.m. until approximately 12:30 p.m.

CWU Emergency Management, in collaboration with FEMA Region 10, public safety agencies, and other local stakeholders, will conduct the MCI for training purposes in emergency preparedness and response. This comprehensive MCI exercise will provide CWU, emergency responders, and other relevant agencies the opportunity to practice and evaluate their readiness to efficiently handle such situations.

This exercise will involve actors and emergency personnel responding to a simulated incident at the locations listed. Simulated white smoke will also be used during the exercise. Please note that this event is purely fictitious and for training and assessment purposes only. Announcement boards will be placed in the area to remind the public that the emergency activity taking place in the area is for testing purposes.
