Glenpool vet warns others after being attacked by two dogs | News

GLENPOOL, Oklahoma – A Glenpool veterinarian is warning others after she was attacked by a pair of dogs while biking near Mohawk Park.

FOX23 caught up with her on Monday to find out why she’s afraid something like this could happen again.

“I don’t want to see anyone killed by these dogs,” said Dr. Corinna Tressler of Green Country Veterinary Hospital.

Tressler has been a veterinarian since 2000.

On Memorial Day, she was biking with some friends near Mohawk Park when she was attacked by two dogs weighing 50 to 70 pounds, knocking her off her bike and causing her to pass out.

“They were biting and pulling me over and over again, basically dragging me like a deer carcass, which was disturbing,” she said.

Tressler said she easily could have lost her life.

“If I had been alone, I wouldn’t have been able to fight them off,” she said. “I couldn’t fight them off. The owner had a lot of trouble fighting them off. The only reason they were fought off was because the other cyclist put her bike between me and the dogs.”

Tressler said the fence through which the dogs were able to escape needs to be repaired and secured.

The owner has put up her own signs in the area, but she wants more to be done to fix the problem before anyone else gets hurt.

Due to a broken collarbone and deep bite wounds, she faces six to eight weeks of recovery.

She fears someone else could die. Tressler said one of the dogs was particularly aggressive.

“His hunting instinct was so strong,” she said. “I’ve never seen anything like it in a domestic dog. Because even after he attacked me, it was completely unreal. I just watched, and as he walked away, he was wagging his tail as if to say, ‘I’m a good dog, look what I did.'”

Due to her injuries, Tressler will not be able to participate in the Tulsa Tough next weekend.

She said the dog owner received a summons from the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office and a previous victim filed a lawsuit against him.

She hopes this won’t happen again.

“I think that publishing this will spark a debate and a conversation and that we may be able to reach a solution,” she said.

Tressler said she had to pay large medical bills out of her own pocket as a result of the incident.
