Barstow Police Respond to Shooting – VVNG.com

BARSTOW, Calif. (VVNG.com) – On Thursday, May 30, 2024, at approximately 7:03 p.m., the Barstow Police Department’s dispatch center received a call reporting a shooting in the area of ​​May Lane and West Fredricks Street.

Officers promptly arrived at the scene and discovered several shell casings. Officials said a residence and a vehicle belonging to a nearby business were struck by bullets.

The Barstow Police Department’s Detective Bureau and Crime Scene Investigation took over the investigation. Through their efforts, investigators determined that a dispute over a black Chrysler 300 led to the shooting.

Witnesses provided additional evidence that helped investigators identify Evander Burnsa 24-year-old local resident, as a suspect.

Despite initial efforts to locate him, Burns was not found on the day of the incident. However, Detective Bryce Carson obtained a warrant for his arrest.

The following day, Friday, May 31, 2024, at approximately 1:34 p.m., detectives and police officers located Burns in the 200 block of May Avenue, where he was in a black Chrysler 300. Burns was arrested without complications and subsequently booked into the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Jail in Barstow on a charge of Attempted Murder (PC 664/187(a)).

Barstow Police continue to investigate the incident and urge anyone with additional information to come forward.
