Chicago woman suffers miscarriage after she and her husband are attacked by teenagers in Streeterville

A married couple was attacked after a date in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood on Friday.

At around 8:30 p.m., the couple were surrounded by youths at the corner of Grand Avenue and McClurg Court. They were kicked, stomped on and repeatedly punched.

Nina, who did not want to show her face on camera, shared pictures with FOX 32 showing a strand of hair that was ripped out. Her eye was still injured during the interview.

Her husband was also brutally attacked and detained by the group.

Nina says this was not a robbery. The teens sprayed her with pepper spray and kicked her in the stomach, causing her to lose the two-week-old fetus she was carrying.

Chicago police arrived at the scene and quickly arrested a 14-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl. Both were charged with assault.

“They didn’t steal anything. They said something like, ‘We own the street. We own the street. You can’t just walk around in your little dress.’ I was wearing, like, a nice dress and high heels. When I went out with my husband, they dragged my dress across the floor and said something like, ‘We own the street. You can’t just walk around in your little dress and prance around.’ And they said things that just didn’t make sense to me because they didn’t know me personally,” Nina said.

Chicago police are investigating. We have also reached out to the Cook County District Attorney to see if additional charges are pending. We are awaiting a response.
