Beloit police arrest man suspected of weekend shooting and armed robbery

Beloit police arrested a man over the weekend for two shootings and an armed robbery in Beloit.

According to a Beloit police Facebook post, officers responded to a 911 call about a shooting in the 1700 block of Royce Avenue shortly before 11:30 p.m. Saturday and found two homes damaged by bullets.

While officers were investigating the call about the shooting, a second call was reported about an armed robbery in which the victim had been attacked shortly after midnight Sunday morning in the 1300 block of Kenwood Avenue.

During the investigation, 45-year-old Maurice Citchen was identified as a suspect in connection with the shooting and armed robbery and was arrested by Beloit officers.

According to police, Kitchen was found with a minor gunshot wound, but the circumstances of the injury are still under investigation.

Citchen is charged with illegal possession of a firearm, recklessly endangering safety, armed robbery, assault, disorderly conduct while armed, possession of cocaine with intent to resell and violation of probation.
