Groundbreaking for home remodeling in Buffalo

Gov. Kathy Hochul stopped in Buffalo Monday to discuss affordable housing.

During her visit, she discussed the housing issue facing all of New York State and particularly in Western New York. The governor was speaking from Perry Street in Buffalo.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held there Monday, during which the Commodore Perry Homes in Buffalo’s First Ward neighborhood are being redeveloped. The new all-electric development will include 405 affordable homes across 27 newly constructed buildings.

Hochul made sure to highlight the people responsible for such projects.

“The residents who never gave up, the community leaders, the people who care so much about this,” Hochul said. “The people who live here, the people who invest here, the business developers, the people like the Zemskys who believed in this part of our city and never gave up.”

Hochul added that this is just the beginning, with $114 million committed to Western New York for various projects that will begin in the coming months.
