Man arrested in connection with death of woman found dead in CVS parking lot

(WJBF) – A man was arrested and charged in connection with a suspicious death in the Augusta area.

Marcus Salmond, 46, was booked into the Charles B. Webster Detention Center on Thursday, May 30. He is charged with concealing a death and tampering with evidence in connection with the death of 44-year-old Connie McHan.

McHan’s body was found Wednesday, May 29, in a vehicle in the parking lot of the CVS store at 2559 Windsor Spring Road at the intersection of Windsor Spring and Meadowbrook Drive.

According to the arrest warrants against Salmond, he is accused of deliberately covering up McHan’s death by moving her body in order to “make it more difficult to determine whether or not the person was unlawfully killed.”

According to the arrest warrants against him, Salmond is said to have altered the crime scene in connection with McHan’s death by taking away and hiding her mobile phone.

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office is currently investigating McHan’s case as a “suspicious death.”

In this case, an autopsy has been scheduled.
