Coroner: Shealyn Sherwood, 18, of Hoffman Estates identified as victim of Eisenhower explosion accident in Near West Side

CHICAGO (WLS) — An 18-year-old from a northern suburb was identified as one of the victims of a traffic accident on the Eisenhower Expressway on Sunday.

The accident occurred around 3:04 a.m. Sunday on the westbound lanes of the Eisenhower Expressway near Damen Avenue.

Two cars were involved in the accident; further details were not disclosed.

Two people were killed and three injured in a traffic accident on the city’s West Side, Illinois State Police said.

According to the ISP, at least one of the two dead was a pedestrian.

According to the Cook County Coroner, Shealyn Sherwood of Hoffman Estates was identified as one of the people killed in the crash.

Three people were taken to a nearby hospital. The extent of their injuries is unknown.

ISP is investigating the fatal accident. Further details were not immediately available.
