Police search for sexual abuse of woman in a Winnipeg park

A Winnipeg woman was sexually assaulted in a Richmond West park while walking home.

Winnipeg police said the incident was reported around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

Officials say the victim, a woman in her 20s, was walking home from a bus stop on Pembina Highway. As she was walking through Kirkbridge Park, she was pushed to the ground and sexually assaulted by an unknown man.

According to police, the suspect eventually escaped on a bicycle and was able to get to safety.

WPS was contacted and she received medical attention.

The sex crimes unit has taken over the investigation and is still in the early stages of gathering information.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned man who speaks English, is of average build and is approximately 5’8″ tall. He was dressed all in black, wearing a black baseball cap and black pants. He also wore a black medical mask and was riding a bicycle.

Anyone with information or surveillance video of a home in the area is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
