Woman sexually assaulted near Castleford Cricket Club

Police are investigating after a woman was sexually assaulted in Castleford.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday (June 2) near the Townville Cricket Club. A large cordon was erected to seal off the club on Poplar Avenue in the Airedale area of ​​the city.




When residents woke up on Sunday morning, they saw a heavy police presence in the area as cordons had been set up to restrict access to the crime scene.

Investigations are ongoing and police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Police received an allegation of sexual assault of a woman in Castleford in the early hours of Sunday 2 June.”

“The investigation is still at an early stage. Extensive enquiries are being carried out to understand the circumstances of the incident.
