A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of stabbing a 50-year-old man to death in Sherman Heights, San Diego police reported Monday.

The two men got into an argument at the corner of 25th Street and Imperial Avenue at 7:18 p.m. Sunday, Officer John Buttle said.

“The suspect turned and walked away, and the victim attempted to strike the suspect from behind,” Buttle said. “The suspect turned around, pulled out a knife and slashed the victim multiple times.”

The victim was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, including a 5-inch laceration on the right side of his face, a laceration to his abdomen and a 3-inch laceration to his left knee, the official said.

The investigation was carried out by the Central Department of the SDPD.
