BREAKING NEWS: One dead in traffic accident on I-55

LINCOLN, Ill. (WCIA) – State police have closed the northbound lanes of I-55 following a fatal crash involving two semi-trucks.

The crash occurred at approximately 1:33 a.m. State police said a truck was traveling south on I-55 and lost control for unknown reasons. The driver drove over the median, causing a head-on collision with the other truck. One person is dead and three other people were taken to a local hospital.

I-55 northbound is currently closed for further investigation and recovery of the crashed semi-trailers.
