Kroger’s liquor license on Metropolitan Parkway recommended to be renewed

The Atlanta License Review Board has recommended renewal of the liquor sales license at the Metropolitan Parkway Kroger. This recommendation follows the council’s decision to delay the decision by almost two weeks.

The meeting was pushed back two weeks after scheduling conflicts.

Community members who frequent the southwest Atlanta store have expressed concerns about the cleanliness of the property. They claim the location is infested with fruit flies, dirty bathrooms and trash in and around the store.

Additionally, residents have expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of the store, describing it as a mess. However, Kroger representatives countered, emphasizing that the store met all requirements and had received approval from the Department of Agriculture.

A group of residents along with Atlanta City Councilman Antonio Lewis visited the store Sunday to see if the store was in better shape. Residents say the visit came after Kroger executives refused to meet with them.

Residents at the meeting told the board they wanted to push back the decision even further to allow for further review.

The decision now falls by default to the mayor, who will have to sign the permit.
