42-year-old man dies after collision with car on Freeway 101 in downtown LA

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, CA (June 3, 2024) – Miguel Durazo, Jr. was killed in a pedestrian accident near downtown Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon, May 30.

The fatal accident occurred around 1:45 p.m. on the 101 Freeway at North Los Angeles Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, Durazo was walking in the area when he was struck by a vehicle.

Durazo suffered blunt injuries from the impact and died at the scene. According to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner, he was 42 years old.

It is not known whether the driver involved was still there after the accident.

The CHP closed two lanes of the highway while investigating the cause of the accident.
