Metro Police officers search and lock down Star Market on Buchanan Street

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) – Metro Police officers and detectives searched and locked down the Star Market on Buchanan Street Monday morning.

Police say this is due to ongoing “impairment of quality of life.”

The raid and lockdown is a court-ordered measure under the state’s Public Nuisance Prevention Act.

Metro Police Chief John Drake said: In August 2022, Metro met with the property owners who were informed of the activities. The property owners were given the opportunity to clean up, but there were over 60 cases of the same type of activity. “It hasn’t let up.”

According to police, not only were there drug deals, shootings, fights and drunkenness in the area, but the owners also accepted and sold stolen goods.

“They will face money laundering and other charges,” Police Chief Drake said.

Chief Drake added that he hopes this will bring some peace back to the community.

I think we can all remember our favorite teachers. They leave a mark on our lives in so many ways. Have your tissues ready to read Forrest Sanders’ story about Mrs. McMurray. She invested so much in her students and their love returned to them when they needed it most.
