City council examines proposal to purchase mast cameras for the police and discusses the inclusion of cannabis in the smoking ordinance

Jamestown City Council will make a proposal for the purchase of three mast cameras for the Jamestown Police Department.

The cameras would cost $22,644 and would be replaced by a JAG Scholarship of USD 20,694 and USD 1,970 in budget funds. They would be purchased by i2c technologies from North Canton, Ohio.

Also on the agenda is the resolution to use US$7,741.89 in American Rescue Plan Funds to purchase 30 new chairs for the Mayor’s office, the City Council meeting room, and a new desk for the Auditor’s office.

The Council will hear a presentation from Lauren Sharp of Chautauqua County Planning and Development Department throughout their entire work session.

There will also be a discussion about adding cannabis to city smoking banThe agenda states that council members will receive information packages on this topic from the mayor at the meeting.

At 6:00 p.m. there will also be a public hearing on the topic Renewing homes and communities in New York State‘S Block grant for community development-CV (CDBG-CV). The hearing will take place in the City Council Chamber on the second floor of City Hall.

The Housing Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m., the other committees will meet at 7 p.m. The full work session will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Police Training Room on the fourth floor. All meetings are open to the public, the public hearing and work session will be streamed live on jamestownny.gov.
