Man arrested after burglary in Woodsboro

Frederick, Maryland. (From the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office) – “On Thursday, May 30, 2024, at approximately 7:50 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 11,000 BLK of Cash Smith Road for a report of trespassing. While on scene, another call came in for a burglary in progress at the 300 BLK of Copper Oaks Drive in Woodsboro. Officers rushed to that location and established a perimeter.

A white man was observed in the house, who was neither the owner nor the resident. The break-in was carried out by
home and the white man was found hiding in the laundry room and taken into custody.
The investigation revealed that the white man was also the person who was observed breaking into the apartment
of the original Cash Smith Road call.

The person was identified as James Abraham Prevatt III, 42, no permanent address.

Mr Prevatt was taken to the FHH for a medical examination and attempted to
escaped by climbing through the ceiling tiles of a bathroom. After his release from the hospital
was taken to the central booking office and charged with the following:

3 cases of burglary
2 cases of theft
Providing false information to law enforcement authorities
2 cases of property damage
Obstruction of law enforcement
Escape from captivity
Transgression

The Sheriff’s Office received assistance from the Frederick City Police Department canine unit in making the arrest.”
