In a series of posts on “X,” Deepak Jain described his ordeal and shared footage of the attack that traumatized him.

At 11:39 am on Saturday, a grey Ola scooter with a Karnataka registration plate happened to overtake his car from the left. Initially, he did not notice anything suspicious, but after a few hundred metres, he realised that he was being followed by the suspected car driver. The driver started shouting and honking at him to stop. The car driver then parked his scooter in front of the car.

“In a fit of rage, the auto driver picked up a soft coconut shell from the road. His face can be seen as he approached my car to attack me with the coconut shell. At 11:40 am, he smashed my right car window and forced me to open it. He then broke the right ORVM while continuing to shout aggressively… smashed the window several times and threw the shell on the rear window of the car while I tried to escape the frightening situation and drive away,” Jain alleged.

He further claimed that about 300 metres after the attack, a Renault regular also tried to block his path and he suspected that he could be part of the same gang.

Based on Jain’s complaint, a case has been registered at Varthur police station and efforts are on to nab the auto driver, a police official said.

After Jain posted the video on social media, many people told him about similar incidents that had happened to them a few months ago.
