Iraqi base Asad, where US forces work, attacked with rockets

The Iraqi air base of Ain al-Asad, which hosts U.S. and other international forces, was attacked with a missile on Monday, but no one was injured, a coalition spokesman said.

US Colonel Wayne Marotto, spokesman for the US-led international military coalition, tweeted that initial reports indicated the attack took place at 1:35 p.m. (10:35 GMT). He said the damage was currently being assessed.

The US accuses militia groups backed by Iran of regularly launching rocket attacks on its troops in Iraq.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for Monday’s attack.
