Police ask for help after one dead and two seriously injured in mass shooting in Ohio – WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio

AKRON – Police are asking for help after a man died and 25 people were shot in a mass shooting in Ohio early Sunday morning.

As News Center 7 previously reported, Akron police officers were called to the area around Kelly Avenue and 8th Avenue because several shots were fired shortly after midnight Sunday.

As officers were en route to the scene, area hospital staff reported that several people came to the emergency room with gunshot wounds. WOIO in Cleveland reported.

Akron police initially believed there were 27 victims in the shooting, but the number was later clarified to be 25. Among them was a 27-year-old man who succumbed to his injuries.

According to WOIO, Akron police said the victims ranged in age from 19 to 43.

The police said Local media that a firearm and several dozen cartridge cases were found at the crime scene.

In a press conference on Sunday evening, Akron police said the victims ranged in age from 19 to 43.

Police Chief Brian Harding and Mayor Shammas Malik urged the public to provide the police with any information.

Investigators are offering a reward of $22,500 for information leading to the arrest of one or more suspects.
