LMPD releases arrest videos and dashcam footage from Scottie Scheffler incident

Videos of the arrest of world number one Scottie Scheffler have been released.

The Louisville Metro Police Department held a press conference on Thursday where officials said charges against the golfer, which stem from a May 18 arrest, would not be dropped. However, videos of the incident were released later that day.

Although there is no bodycam footage of the incident and subsequent arrest, LMPD released both pole camera and dashboard camera footage of the arrest on Thursday.

Although the camera angles do not provide a particularly comprehensive view of the incident, both videos shed some more light on what happened.

Pole cam video shows Scheffler turning left as a police officer in a yellow vest pursues and stops his vehicle. It’s unclear what the officer says to Scheffler, but the golfer gets out of his car and is arrested about 30 seconds after his vehicle is stopped.

The first video, a nearly hour-long dashcam video, shows from a different perspective how the golfer is stopped, then arrested and taken into a police vehicle. The incident can be seen in the following video starting at 22:46.

In both videos, Scheffler’s vehicle is obscured by buses on the side of the road.

LMPD spokespeople said Detective Bryan Gillis, the officer who arrested Scheffler and filed an incident report on him, was subject to internal “corrective action” for failing to activate his body camera, as required by department policy.

Scheffler’s next court date is currently scheduled for June 3.
